Collect prepayments for your event with Stripe

What is Stripe?

Stripe is an online payment-processor, and once you connect a Stripe account to your community, participants only need to enter their credit card information to prepay for events.

Connecting Stripe to your Doorkeeper community

You can add a Stripe account even if you already have a Paypal account connected to your community.

From the "Payment settings" of your community's "Settings" page click the "Connect Stripe" button.

Fill in all the required information and click "Authorize access to this account" button on the bottom of the page.

Once you've authorized access, your ready to start accepting payments with Stripe with all the credit cards they support by default (Visa, Mastercard, and American Express in Japan).

Collecting payments from JCB cardholders

To collect payments from JCB cardholders in Japan, an additional confirmation process is required. As part of this, they'll check you have a page required by Japan's Act on Specified Commercial Transactions. 

To display this page on your Doorkeeper community pages, go to "Payment settings" on your community's "Settings" page, click the "Edit" button next to "Legal Entity", and fill out your details.

Once you have done this, confirm that your Stripe account specifies your community's public URL (e.g.,  https://trbmeetup.doorkeeper.jp/) as the Website. You can confirm that from your Stripe dashboard, on the Business settings page.

Finally, follow Stripe's instructions for submitting your account to be approved with JCB (see  this article for details).
